12 years ago I changed my business – in reality I had no choice.

I’d just become a single dad, and now there was no “mum” to BE there for the kids. Travelling to clients, spending all day there, travelling back in time for tea … that way of working was over.

And, almost overnight, my reason for the business changed.

The priority now was TIME.

I didn’t want to sacrifice money – but I had to figure out how to earn with a new constraint: time for the kids.

As a result, for the last 12 years I have never charged for my time … and I’ve earned more by figuring out how to earn from my ideas.

Good news – you can probably do it too, if you’re not already. Sure, there are some key ingredients to make it work smoothly … but you can do it.

It allowed me to support my family more than just financially. And in 4 weeks time, both kids will have places of their own, and we move into another amazing phase of life.

Time is so precious, isn’t it?

If you are pricing your services based on how long the job will take, how many sessions are needed or any flavour of hourly rates, daily rates or per session rates … then you’re trading your time for money.

If you’re happy doing that, carry on.

On the other hand, if you’re looking to have financial security without selling time, then start that journey. Design the model, offer, method, messaging and positioning, and you’ll never look back.

It’s not “hard work”, and when done right, you can have what many still believe impossible: earning more than when working hard AND creating precious time to spend with those who matter most to you.
